hi there!

My name is Kayla. I am a twenty-something year old native Brooklynite living in God knows where right now. If you’re reading this my life is probably all over the place, just how I like it.

I hold a bachelors degree in Cultural Anthropology and International & Global Studies. It was always my goal to pursue International Law with a focus on Human Rights. I have a passion for serving the international community and helping the worlds most marginalized groups here and abroad. I’ve done work with the UN and Refugee organizations which ultimately lead me to my dream position: Peace Corps!

On January 7th 2020 I departed for Peace Corps Thailand; and was serving in the Youth in Development sector before being evacuated 10 weeks later. The Youth in Development sector entails working with local government offices in the education & community development units. I was so excited to be combining my interests of facilitation and social issues to empower Thai youth to become the change they want to see in their communities; but now it’s on to the next step in my journey.

Now that I’m back, feel free to follow me and my story of “whats next?!” I am a student at Tulane University Law School studying International and Comparative Law. It is my hope to use my academic path to serve the global community ethically, instead of from a Western lens. I hope to gain my law degree to affect policy change and reform. This isn’t a lifestyle blog, nor is it an academic blog, or even a travel blog– its more of a ” this is me trying to keep my head on straight so I write in hopes to help others” blog.

My twenty somethings are about to be a roller coaster but I am strapped and ready. I don’t know where this blog will take me and for the first time, my five year plan isn’t set in stone. Happy blogging ♥ ⚖︎.
